Community Update – July 2025
July 23, 2025
Dear Residents,
We’re pleased to provide the September 2025 community update. Several projects are now underway, and some are completed across Lakeridge Park. We appreciate everyone’s continued cooperation and support as we work toward improving our community.
Michelle Crescent Stairs Removal & Replacement
The stairway between Michelle Crescent and Tomat Avenue has now been fully removed due to safety concerns. We have now engaged a vendor, and they have started project planning. We are currently in the design and drawings phase. A survey will be required for both planning and installation.
This project has taken more time due to buried infrastructure and a redesign of the base. While we initially hoped installation would have started, this has been delayed. The goal is to get the footings started in the fall while the stairs enter production. We appreciate your patience while we ensure the new stairs are safe, compliant, and built to last.
Parking Enforcement Update
We have moved into the monetary ticket phase of our parking enforcement strategy. Residents have been given time to adjust and comply.
Moving forward, the enforcement process will include:
- Monetary ticket
- If violations persist, the vehicle will be physically towed
- In cases of chronic or repeat violations, towing may occur immediately without further notice.
We have also had a few instances where residents have removed, cut down, or vandalized no parking signage. This will not be tolerated. Vandalism will be reported to RCMP and WFN LEOs.
These actions are being taken to prioritize the safety of children, pedestrians, cyclists, and emergency service access throughout the community. We use terms like Care, Welfare, Safety, & Security because they truly matter.
Fire Hazard Tree & Shrub Removal
We’ve partnered with Bartlett Tree Experts and Goodfellers Tree Care to remove fire hazards from common areas. This has been a major undertaking, and we thank residents for your cooperation.
We are also assessing and planning cleanup for the back area of Lakeridge Park Residential Corporation’s vacant lands, with a potential controlled burn in December 2025 or January/February 2026, managed by Ntityix Resources LP, our professional forestry division.
All residents — including tenants and owners — are asked to inspect their lots for fire hazard trees, shrubs, or dry vegetation. Notices will be issued where necessary, and if there is no response, Lakeridge Park Residential Corporation may conduct the work and bill the cost back to the property.
Thistle Alert: We have noticed several properties not taking care of thistle issues. Please be vigilant in removing them to avoid spreading onto neighbouring lots.
To support residents:
- Bartlett Tree Experts and Goodfellers Tree Care are offering preferred pricing.
- D-Scapes Landscaping (our new landscaper) can assist with smaller hazard removals.
- 4 Directions Landscaping is available for private lot maintenance.
Please note: these companies are independent and not directly affiliated with Lakeridge Park Residential Corporation.
Community Policing & Safety Coordination
We’ve seen several instances this summer of unauthorized individuals going door-to-door or entering yards, causing damage or theft.
As the seasons change and transient traffic increases, please continue to report all suspicious or threatening behaviour immediately to RCMP or WFN Bylaw Services. We’ve already seen increased RCMP presence in the area, and your reports are making a difference.
Bayview Court – Streetlight Replacement
We will be replacing 4 streetlight pole heads (with photocells) on Bayview Court.
Scheduled Work Dates:
October 7th–8th, 2025 (weather dependent)
Irrigation System Monitoring (Derrickson Place, Abel Street, Tomat Avenue)
We’ve hired an independent irrigation specialist to begin work on several systems that have not been operational in some time. If you need private irrigation work, we recommend Tomahawk Irrigation as a preferred vendor.
A recent issue occurred where someone turned off the irrigation at Derrickson Place, nearly destroying the park. If you see any tampering, please report it immediately to WFN Bylaw or the Property Manager.
Looking Ahead
We remain committed to restoring Lakeridge Park to a high, sustainable standard and will continue prioritizing capital improvements as resources allow. Your feedback, involvement, and vigilance remain essential to our continued success. Thank you for being part of this positive change — together, we are building a safer, cleaner, and more connected community.
Sincerely,
Lakeridge Park Residential Corp., the general partner of WFN Development Limited Partnership
